Peninsula Hot Springs : A Wellness Paradise

September 25, 2017 by

Somewhere in the local municipality of Fingal, between the more popular coastal towns of Rye and Cape Schank, lies a hidden (like almost literally hidden) well-being paradise that is called Peninsula Hot Springs, only 1 1/2 hour’s drive away from the Melbourne CBD.

For someone who lives in the west side of Melbourne , hot mineral springs indulgence means going to Daylesford, but based on my own experience and also some personal research, nothing is more visually spectacular than the Peninsula Hot Springs. It is a spa resort with well-being and relaxation facilities interspersed with nature. I particularly liked its hilltop pool that offers 360-degree sweeping views of the pristine landscape of Mornington Peninsula Region.

Foot Bath

It’s thermal water of 50 degrees celcius comes from an underground permeable rock more than 600m deep and as it reaches the surface of the earth, cools down to a more relaxing temperature between 30 to 40 degrees. The highly mineralized water containing natural elements that includes calcium, magnesium, potassium among many others, and is believed to be therapeutic alleviating fatigue and skin disorders, improving nerve functions and according to Japanese Health Authority, natural treatment to infertility.

Facilities include a public bath house open to all ages, a private bathing facility for 16 years and older and a dining facility.

The Bath House offers 20 different bathing experience including the hilltop pool, a cave pool, cold plunge pool, hand and foot baths, a sauna, a Turkish Steam room and reflexology walk.

Unique Bathing Experience

On the other hand, the Spa Dreaming Centre offers a private bathing experience including massage and treatment. Group bookings and packaged offers are available combining bathing, treatments and dining experience.

Peninsula Hot Springs is open daily from 7AM to 10PM daily except on Christmas day. Advanced booking is essential.
I find that going there early morning is the quietest time during the day. After 10AM, it starts to become crowded.

For less than $160 for a family of 4, it is definitely worth both the money and the 2 hours drive (or more, depending on traffic, especially if you are coming from the opposite side of Melbourne). Perhaps I would like to go back there someday, but this time for my girlfriends for a nice ladies day out.
