Our Fiji Experience
We cannot stress enough how much we love the beach. As Australians we are lucky to be surrounded with so many beautiful beaches. The ocean is like an extension of our own backyard.
The only drawback though, especially if you live in Melbourne, is that the water, no matter what season, is always biting cold.
So one summer, the family decided to check in at Fiji, one of the most popular beach destinations for Australians apart from Bali.
We decided Denarau as our base home for the next 7 days. We were thinking between Coral Coast where beach is a little bit nicer, or Port Denarau where it’s close to everything. As we wanted to do Island hopping, and see other places apart from the beach, Denarau turned out to be the perfect choice.
We stayed at Radisson Blu Resort, which was nestled with other 4 and 5-star rated resorts such as Sofitel, Sheraton and Wyndham. It’s like having accommodation with four different resort facilities to use at your doorstep. Not to mention the golf course nearby.
Having the port within the vicinity, merely one bula bus ride away, it was very convenient for us to get to our Island get away. From the port, we took a super fast ferry to get us to Bounty Island, a tiny island in the middle of South Pacific Ocean. Here we got a glimpse of the Fijian culture, we got to explore some amazing reefs with hundreds of different types of species and most of all I I got my child to conquer her fear of the deep ocean.
It was the perfect holiday we have always wanted. Pretty laid back, no rushing in the morning to line up for tickets and catch some once in a blue moon shows. We wake up whenever, we eat our buffet breakfast, laze around, jump in the water, sip cocktails at happy hour and watch the sunset fading away.
