AAMI Park: Watching Socceroos Bid for FIFA World Cup
I am not a big follower of any major sports, but from time to time I do get invited to watch a major sports match. When opportunities like these arise, I do treat these invitations as means to build relationships in my professional world, aside from the fact that I am also naturally curious about most things and happenings.
So there one night, instead of taking my usual route back home, I drove towards the city of Melbourne to watch the FIFA World Cup qualifying game between Socceroos and the Thailand Team. It was a rainy Spring night and I just got caught in my worst traffic jam ever yet since moving to Melbourne. I almost gave up and turned back to go home. But considering I was within the last 900 m till I get to my final destination, after being in the heavy traffic for 2 1/2 hours already, I shouldered on. And boy was I glad, I did.
The fervid atmosphere inside the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium (Aka AAMI Park) was ultra contagious, that even my hopeless case of sports ignorance could not resist. Every one (except for a few patches of Thai people in the crownd) just wanted the Socceroos to get the 2 point lead to secure its pathway to Russia. And I cheered on like a crazy Socceroos fan. 🙂
